I give you the Vice Magazine Guide to Toronto to atone on behalf of National Geographic for their anemic photo diary of my hometown that I posted a little while ago. Here are some photos that are a little more representational of Toronto:
(This has to be a Tim Horton's Drive-Thru)

(This is a store front in Little India. Actually, all our Dollar Stores look like this.)
(This is the annual Pride Parade, although if all our Dollar Stores were to explode at once, this is probably what it would look like...)
(This is a person sleeping on a grate to keep warm. Many homeless don't use the shelters because of the risk of assaults and having what few belongings they have stolen. The shelters turf the people out at 8am anyway and as you can see this picture was taken during the day. Notice how oblivious the passer-by is. That's de rigeur...the homeless are everywhere. The great 'Unseen.')
(Aren't lights "for no reason in particular" always pretty? Lights from Greektown on the corner of Logan and Danforth. This is during the summertime - I used to live just up the street on Logan. "OPA!")

Beautiful! I like the fountains too. Reminds me of when I lived in Kansas City, they would let the fountains run in winter and the water would freeze in great configurations, then they'd turn on colored lights inside.
ReplyDeleteVery nice town you have there, Baho!
